Works accepted to Lawndale’s The Big Show 2007

Two of my works from the series Ritual of Space were accepted by Lawndale Art Center The Big Show 2007. Rita Gonzalez was the guest Juror for the show. She is Assistant Curator, Special Exhibitions, at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art.

“The Big Show is Lawndale Art Center’s annual open-call, juried exhibition. It has been an important venue through which emerging and under-represented Houston area artists gain exposure since the show’s conception in 1984. … Open to all artists living within 100 miles of Houston or in the following counties: Angelina, Austin, Brazoria, Brazos, Chambers, Colorado, Fort Bend, Galveston, Grimes, Hardin, Harris, Jasper, Jefferson, Liberty, Matagorda, Montgomery, Newton, Orange, Polk, San Jacinto, Trinity, Tyler, Walker, Waller, Washington, Wharton.” (Excerpt from Lawndale Art Center website.)

The Big Show was opened to all artists working in all media. There were 1,145 works submitted by 458 artists.

115 works from 86 artists was picked by Rita Gonzales for the show.

The show opens this Friday, July 13 from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM.
